Description

The Archbishop D. Jo´se de Bragança (1741-56), the brother of the englihtned and courtier King João V, ordered the erection of a new wing for the palace in the manner of the time (1751). Reputedly an early work of André Soares, it required the framing of the wing as a palace with the municipal square palced in front.
