Casa da Cultura de Melgaço is one of the many places where the town’s citizens and visitors can attend several cultural events. Its auditorium is where they can enjoy theatre plays, cinema and concerts. Inaugurated in 1995, in the former prison building, it’s nowadays the place for promoting and divulging the municipality’s cultural heritage, allowing the visitors to learn the region’s soul and culture at the same time they participate in social and cultural initiatives.
Besides the auditorium, where you’ll be able to choose from a wide range of shows to cheer your evenings, you’ll find a temporary exhibitions room where to admire the art of national and foreign artists, and a small bar where to relax at the intervals of the shows. There's also a library, including for the younger ones, where to research the documental collection or simply borrow a book.
