Pottery Route

Barcelos
Description
For historical reasons, pottery is more concentrated in the northeast part of the municipality: Manhente, Galegos S. Martinho, Galegos Sta. Maria, Oliveira, Roriz, Lama, Ucha and Areias S. Vicente. These lands are rich in clay and water. Here you will find the masters of craftsmen of the municipality, whose art has passed from generation to generation.
These visits intend to give more visibility to this people and their ateliers, living testimonies of traditional pottery. Visit these traditional workshops and get your hands dirty with clay and see how the jugs, pitchers, plates, bowls and roasters are made.
At the end of this trip visit the Pottery Museum of Barcelos, which has a collection of over 7000 pieces.
