Highlight of the Week - Financial Times' Executive Education Rankings 2013

This week’s Study in Portugal highlight is the updated Financial Times Executive Education Rankings 2013. The Global MBA Ranking 2013 features one Portuguese programme in 61st: the Lisbon MBA, which is jointly offered by Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics and Nova School of Business and Economics. The Open Programmes Ranking 2013 places Católica Lisbon SBE at 42nd, while Nova SBE stood at 58th, and Porto Business School 68th. The Customised Programmes Ranking 2013 shows Católica Lisbon SBE at 54th and Porto Business School at 59th. |

Education in Portugal
Higher education in Portugal consists of a dual system which includes university and polytechnic education. Currently there are nearly 400,000 students of which a considerable 4.6% are foreigners, steadily rising from 3% in 2000. The number of higher education institutions is split between 35 public and 94 private, where some are rated among the top 50 in the world. The number of PhD accomplished has increased from a total of only 60 in 1960 to a significant 1,569 in 2009.
